BAYLESA STATE: The price of oil has risen to more than one hundred twenty dollars a barrel, some experts say the most recent price increase is only the beginning, they have predicted that oil could reach two hundred dollars a barrel.
Unrest in oil producing countries has been partly to blame. Last weekend, a rebel group in Nigeria said it attacked an oil center in Baylesa state. Nigeria is the eight biggest oil exporters in the world.
Also Iraq is slowly rebuilding its oil production ability. Iraq’s industry minister says the countries oil production is currently at about two million barrels of oil a day. He says that could increase to five million barrels of oil a days in three years depending on how much foreign help Iraq receives.
The Venezuelan Government’s efforts to control its oil industry have increased tensions with foreign oil producers. And Russia, The world’s second largest exporter, has also sought to increase government control of its energy resources. Nationalization of oil resources often forces out foreign investment that would normally seek to increase supplies.
Another cause of high oil prices is the weak American dollar. Oil is traded in dollars. So a less valuable dollar buys less oil. But experts have notes that the week dollar alone cannot explain the increase of about eight five percent in the price of oil over the last year.
They organization of petroleum exporting countries is the world largest oil producing group. It says it member nations not including Iraq, are investing one hundred twenty billion dollars in over one hundred new oil projects. OPEC says it produces forty five percent of the words oil export
In the post, non OPEC producer like Russia, Mexico and Norway have increased production to meet demand. But these nations have struggled to keep productions at the level of recent year. Norways production for example, has decreased by twenty five percent since two thousand one.
The expanding economies of ASIA, especially China and India have increase pressure on world supplies. Meeting demand appears to be harder than ever before.

The Government should be more serious.
Sometimes when I pass some certain places in Jakarta, I often see piles of trash by the side of the street or even by the river. This view is annoying. It makes our city look ugly and very dirty. If we walk near the pile of trash, we could smell stinky odors coming from it.
Piles of trash bring the bacteria with them. Isn’t that very dangerous to our health if flies land on our food?
However, many people live around this mountain- like heap of trash. Many children play nearby. Also, a lot of women wash clothes and fruits and vegetables in the river which is contaminated by trash. This is terrible. I think they don’t realize the danger, because they don’t have knowledge about healthy living.
In my opinion, the government must make a regulation that prohibits people to build houses near the trash disposal (dump site). Also, there should be special officers, like police officers, who watch and catch people who throw trash on the ground or into the rivers. Moreover, if a big fine doesn’t make people stop dropping litter carelessly, the government should put them in jail as punishment.
Finally, I think the efforts to keep our environment clean and tidy need hard work from both the citizens and government.

The following text is for questions 43 to 46.
Small children seem to learn very quickly ,while adults sometimes appear to lose  the ability to pick up the new subject such as language , music, games , or computer programs, in this essay, I will discuss whether children or adults  make the best learner.
It is undoubtedly true that children seem to learn very quickly. In just a few years, they can learn how to play a musical instrument, speak one or even two new languages, and deal with many subjects at school. They even have time for sport and hobbies, and become experts in their favorites past time. However how much of this is social pressure and how much is genetic? I am convinced that while children’s brains have a natural ability to absorb new information as part of their developmental growth much of their achievement is because of social pressure. Schools force them to take many subjects. Parents force them to practice new sports or to learn music. Even their playmates force them to become better at computer games or to read Harry potter novels faster. In summary, children may enjoy learning, but their environment also is a big motivating factor.
Adults on the other hand are supposed to be poor learners. However, I disagree with people who say that adults cannot learn quickly. Adults have many skills that compensate for the decline in the ability of the brain to grasp and remember new material. They can organize their learning by setting times for reading or practice. They can build on skills and experiences they know already. Adults usually cannot learn to do ballet or to play the violin, but even despite these physical challenges, their motivation can often be higher than a child’s. Unfortunately, society doesn’t encourage many adults to learn. People are busy with families and work, and some adults may feel that further learning is pointless, since they have already achieved many goals at work or in their personal life.
In conclusion, I feel that we can’t generalize about children or adults being better learners. It depends on the situation and motivation of the person, and the level of enthusiasm he or she has for learning.

43. The text above mainly discussed ….
    A. The different opinion about the best learners between children and adults.
    B. The comparison of learning abilities between children and adults.
    C. The children‘s strength in the process of learning.
    D. The influences of learning to children and adults.
    E. The learning motivation of children and adults.

44. What is the main idea of paragraph 3?
   A. Learning is not important for adult.
    B. Adult doesn’t have motivation to learn.
   C. Adults motivation is higher than children.
   D. Some people say that adults can’t learn quickly.
   E. Highly motivated, adults are good managers of their learning.

45. Which of the statements below describes children strength in learning?
     A. Their brains are still developing so they are flexible to take in new learning materials.
     B. Children have parents who can guide them in learning new things.
     C. Their bodies are growing so they need to learn new things.
     D. Children are very active so they are motivated to learn.
     E. Children have passion for learning things.

46… for the decline in the ability of the brain to grasp and remember new material (paragraph 3)

Re: Attendance forms

It has come to my attention that many of you have been turning in your attendance forms late. Please remember that the deadline for submitting attendance forms is 3.30 P.M. on the last school day of every month. Also, you call the parents of every child who is absent three or more times without an excuse.
Thank you.
